Before you can say it is Green!

Interesting concept, isn’t it? Today is 07-07-07 and scheduled in various parts of the world are “Earth Day” concerts that are trying to highlight awareness of the diminishing resources our planet has. But just how environmentally friendly is it?

While the goals are admirable and the increased awareness is a good thing, does flying a bunch of entertainers around the world, some in private jets, using fossil fuels, and all the trash that will be generated really show ‘Leadership by example.’ What of the personal riders that many of these entertainers need to have followed even before they will board that plane and/or limousine? When did entertainers become the moral compass for the Earth (perhaps in another BLOG)?

I am not saying this is a bad thing, I just would like to ask that we personally examine ourselves before we tell others how to behave. If we then are behaving in a manner that espouses the same values we are trying to impose on others then we are ‘Leaders by Example.” only then will things line Live Earth be more than just a few entertainers asking for money or seeking glory. Just my humble opinion.
