Google Just Keeps Growing

July 10th, 2007 by Bud

Google announced on Monday it has agreed to acquire Postini, an e-mail security company for $625 million. Postini services over 35,000 businesses with over 10,000,000 customers with on-demand security products centered around communications.

Google already provides hosted services such as its e-mail service Gmail, Calendar, and its instant messaging service Talk. Google believes this could add to those existing hosted services. Postini will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Google.

Google has become the next Microsoft. Where MS is still tied to hardware by being the biggest software company in the world, Google is doing it by becoming the largest information aggregator in the world. Think about it, how many of us when we want to look something just, ‘Just Google It.’ Google is now part of the language, we can find nearly everything we need on Google. Just look up your name or telephone number on Google, its probably there. Want to find an image or clip art or just about any graphic representation, ‘Just Google It.’

Is Google getting too big? Are they seeking world domination? I don’t think so, but then again…
